'25 Living History Cemetery Tour

On Saturday, March 22, 2025, our organization hosted its third Living History Cemetery Tour in the Cedar Hill section of the Abilene Municipal Cemetery. Guests took a guided walking tour to nine live actors who portrayed the following prominent Abilene figures: David Castle, Abilene’s most known and successful architect, played by Judah Simmons; Col. Morgan Jones, railroad builder, played by Joe Cypher; K.K. Legett, known as the most promising young lawyer in West Texas, played by Josh Vorel; Ruth Legett Jones, philanthropist and civic leader of early Abilene; played by Jacinda Simmons; William Nicholas, founder of Abilene’s Child Placement Agency, played by Evan Simmons; Koreen Logsdon, first recipient of “Outstanding Philanthropist of Abilene” award, played by Janelle Holmes; Selma Bishop, one of Abilene’s first professors, played by Shannon Eggleston; Bobbie Clack, one of Abilene’s first teachers, played by Jessica Lockard; and Tommie Clack, known as “The First Lady of Abilene”, played by Neena McClain.

Through each actor and actress, guests learned about the figure being portrayed, the impact they had on early Abilene, and the impact they're still making today!Without these actors and actresses, our sponsors, our board and staff, our volunteers, and our guests, this Living History Cemetery Tour would not have been such a fun success nor our best one yet.
